Some other things about Nikolaustag (Nikolaus Day): Children shine their shoes and then put one pair outside at the front or back door. Then Nikolaus comes by and puts oranges, apples, candy or toys in their shoes if they&#039;ve been good. However, if the children have been bad, he puts a birch twig in their show (of course, the children always get candy even if they have been bad).</description>

I myself imigrated when I was a todder from Germany, my mother&#039;s side did it on the 6th to the 7th, where as my fathers family did it on the 5th to the 6th. We now traditionally do it on the 6th to the 7th for our children.</description>
